Spontaneity, freedom and lightness

When spontaneity is missing, a pattern arises, an obvious effort to look interesting, crushed by the burden of constraint.

The need to be seen, heard and respected seems to go hand in hand with trivial expressivity. Every day I hear hundreds of thousands words though very rarely I hear something worth listening to.

I don’t need revelations about the meaning of life, nor I need to hear about excellent ideas that I probably wouldn’t even be able to understand, what I’d love is a bit of irony and genuine spontaneity. Erich Fromm believed spontaneity was the only real expression of freedom. When spontaneity is missing, a pattern arises, an obvious effort to look interesting, crushed by the burden of constraint. Even a good chunk of the smiles I see, look fake and forced. A little lightness would be enough, as it would being free from the need to be loved and accepted, free from the impulse of saying or doing something interesting. The spontaneity Fromm spoke of was to free oneself from every creed, from any theory, from any group, because only in this way is it possible to go back to spontaneity. Being spontaneous is the natural expression of what we are, it is not something we must look for, the only thing we need is a small effort to remove the mental constraints and let the "spontaneous being" simply happen.
