New Moon rising

Welcoming a new Moon is like starting the life cycle again. Every month the Moon rises, wanes and disappears, this endless cycle makes the Moon the “queen” of renewal and regeneration because its death is never permanent, the Moon always resurrects. These features make the moon, the symbol of transformation and growth. With water as it’s element, the power of the moon is mighty, as water represents fertility and strength.

Hence, the new Moon is a good time to set intentions and re-align ourselves. In a world that is going at such fast a pace, it’s also good opportunity to reassess, to take the time to enjoy and re-connect with the present moment.

Yin Yoga can be an amazing practice to try at this time of the month as it allows you to let go, by focusing on your breathing and dig deeper in yourself, to create “space”.  As opposed to a more dynamic (yang) practice, Yin Yoga focuses on the simple act of being, without forcing, without pushing for a goal at any cost. Yin allows you to be soft and surrender to life and only if we allow ourselves to be vulnerable, we can rise stronger than ever. The goal of yin is to have no goals but becoming as fluid as water, because only when you’re fluid you can truly evolve, only when we’re free of judgment, you can truly be wise and see life for the amazing gift that it is.

As Jon Kabat-Zinn says in his "Wherever You Go, There You Are: Mindfulness Meditation in Everyday Life.

“To let go means to give up coercing, resisting, or struggling, in exchange for something more powerful and wholesome which comes out of allowing things to be as they are without getting caught up in your attraction to or rejection of them, in the intrinsic stickiness of wanting, of liking and disliking.”
