Open letter to teachers and students, wishing you all a good course
I am writing these few lines to all of you, to clarify on the one hand, a fundamental attitude that I expect from our teachers, so that students can find their right dimension while also demanding that this attitude be followed. today's society prefers inclusive horizontality and this is reflected in the schools' teachings, with clearly visible results. This leads to a flattening of values and to ensuring that the most willing and gifted people are not given the real opportunity to express themselves, but are actually pushed to flatten and underestimate themselves. On this subject, some time ago I wrote a comment on a famous quote by Nietzsche that today it is necessary "to defend the strong from the weak" (strength and weakness in this context are inner values) because I am convinced of this necessity.
This post is inspired by what happened a short time ago during one of our courses. The teacher only taught a small part of the program to keep up with a student who had not even bothered to prepare a minimum for the lesson. This thing must never happen again in our courses. Those who do not prepare and therefore fall behind, do so by their own choice and the time and energy of the teacher must be mainly directed to those who do their best. Obviously we do not force anyone to prepare and it is absolutely not a problem if one takes the course understanding and learning only a small part.
Teaching in general and not just in Yoga courses, should always reward commitment and give the possibility of improvement and expansion especially for those who have great possibilities. If you want an "inclusive" school, which brings everyone on the same level and consequently flattens everyone down and evens instead of looking for the "peaks", we are not that school.
I have the presumption to believe that our courses not only give the basis to become a good Yoga teacher but are also a launching pad for "unpredictable flights and very fast ascents". I expect all teachers and students to give their best because only by giving the best you grow. By "best" I obviously also mean a gentle attitude without resentment yet without weakness.
Having said that, I wish everyone a good journey together with the certainty that then everyone will get what they have given.
