Memories of travel and of a friend
Memories of travel and of a friend
About twenty years ago, I spent at least ten months in India. During this journey I met a very young Brahmin and we became friends. He worked at the Brakreshwar temple but took a vacation and we travelled around together for a while. Thus began our little adventure of adventure travel with his important logistical support.
For the following 3-4 years, I resolved to be a guide and travel organizer along with many other activities of the moment ranging from Yoga teacher to DJ.
The idea was born because all the tours for "westerners" did not even get close to authentic India, though they were certainly easier and perhaps even more pleasant. But travelling, as well as life, does not necessarily have to be pleasant, or at least not always, but it must also be an adventure and, above all, a self-discovery. And then we did it mainly because we felt like doing it. For us, traveling to India alone was easy, but bringing (un)organized groups represented the real challenge.
We took groups to the sources of the Ganges or to visit the tantric sites of Bengal and Assam. A thousand problems and a thousand beautiful adventures that I would not do again, in the sense that I have no intention of returning to India, but which are wonderful memories and are part of me.
But my friend, Partha, wrote to me recently and I discovered that the tours we did together, have turned his life around. He quit his job at the temple, set up a travel agency, and now organizes spiritual trips to India.
I don't know what his tours are like but I am extremely pleased to have heard from him and that our short time has sown seeds that have sprouted. He remains a friend I will love forever.

If you plan to go to India, please consider it and give him a hug on My behalf.
this is how he would end this article:
