"Your Yoga is the only one that matters." - Marco M.

Your Yoga is the only one that matters.

We are finalizing the program of the Bliss Beat Festival and that gave me the idea for this post. We have teachers who propose and would like to use labels that identify a specific style such as: "Iyengar Yoga", "Anusara Yoga", "Rocket Yoga" etc.

Let me start by saying that at the beginning, when I founded Hari-Om, I tried to do the same thing and call the Yoga of our school "Hari-Yoga". I quit almost immediately, despite the fact that I titled a book like that, feeling it as a valid idea from a marketing point of view albeit totally oblivious.

Of course, I'm happy when a teacher who has completed the course with us, mentions us. Not for marketing but because through the quote they express a small sense of pride and satisfaction.

I also understand the need to explain to a potential user what kind of lesson awaits them, but of course there are an infinite number of "neutral" terms.

I urge all readers to throw away the labels and not let themselves be pigeonholed. Let Mr. Iyengar (there are videos of him if you want, although I understand that it is not the best to see) to propose Iyengar Yoga or Mr. David to propose Rocket.

Those who teach offer their yoga that owes so much to many but should become a sort of synthesis and an artistic expression of oneself. Labels are just limits and are only for marketing. Don't let yourself be pigeonholed. Moreover, in trying to be something else, you are reduced to just a faded draft copy of the original, and there are already enough faded copies in all fields.
